Newly Available DIY Products Allow Factory-Quality Results Done in Your Own Garage

Users get performance like the pros without the need for professional services

A technical seminar will be given at the SEMA Show on Wednesday, Nov. 1st on dry-film lubrication. Contact us for details.

“When the brick hits you on the head over and over, the light bulb finally comes on.” That’s how Jay Stolfi, Rose Mill Company President, explains the company’s decision to formally introduce their products to the automotive industry. Rose Mill, manufacturer of Bemol© Lubricants and Cherry Red© metalworking compounds, will be featuring their unique do-it-yourself products for the first time at this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Rose Mill manufactures products that allow users to perform their own professional-quality services without the need for specialty equipment and without going to outside contractors. Bemol dry-film lubricants are paint-like coatings that provide a dry lubricant coating in minutes at room temperature. These coatings are similar in performance to those special formulas applied in the world’s automobile factories by UV or heat-curing equipment, yet can be applied by anyone. Unlike professionally applied coatings, Bemol dry-films are water-based coatings, do not contain complex, harmful solvents, and therefore can be handled more easily by non-professionals. They can even be modified by using commonly available products such as isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol or purified water.

Cherry Red instant steel hardening compound allows users to case harden critical steel parts in minutes, using only commonly available tools. There is no need to use an outside heat-treating shop or specialized heat-treating equipment. Unlike other heat-treating products, Cherry Red does not contain any cyanide compounds.

“I wish I could say it was my brilliant idea” states Stolfi, “but I couldn’t help notice that the fastest growing market for our products was coming from race teams, mechanics, auto restorers, and experienced hobbyists. The auto aftermarket found us.” These users report a number of benefits to using Rose Mill’s DIY products. The ability to get immediate, performance-boosting results is most commonly cited.

Bemol dry-film lubricants are user-friendly and environmentally safer versions of the coatings used in specialty metal coating shops and auto factories. Bemol dry-films allow the user to provide lubrication to parts where grease or oil would not be suitable, such as high-temperature areas, internal engine/gearbox parts, near brake pads/discs, and on interior parts. Common uses for these dry-films include:

“break-in” coatings for internal engine shafts, gears, and rods
anti-seize/anti-corrosion barrier for alloy wheels/steel wheel hubs
anti-squeak coating for interior door parts, dashboard parts, interior assemblies
coating chassis components exposed to sand, dirt, debris that would collect on grease/oil covered parts
pulley/cable guides for brakes, clutches, throttles, etc.

Cherry Red steel hardening compound is an easy-to-use powder that quickly case-hardens steel parts. A common propane torch, welder’s gloves, and some metal trays are all that is required to effectively increase surface hardness, thereby increasing part-life. Bushings, shafts, chassis components, and other critical steel parts benefit from increased strength and wear resistance. Many users also make and/or improve their own tools using Cherry Red.

Additionally, Bemol Moli-Spray #3 will be featured at the SEMA Show. It is a molybdenum disulfide based aerosol spay that produces a dense, black lubricant coating. “Moli-Spray #3 is one of our most versatile products” notes Laura Carrier, Office Manager, adding “it’s long been used by aircraft manufacturers and heavy industry, and we even sold some to a professional baseball team for their stadium!” Like the other products, Moli-Spray #3 is growing in popularity among auto professionals. “Many customers won’t share with us how they’re using our products, but others are willing to offer great information” states Stolfi. “I trust it on my own car. It did wonders for the throttle cable on my Ferrari.”

Rose Mill will be exhibiting at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas at booth #23994. An online version of this press release is available at www.RoseMill.com/html/SEMA_press.htm . Digital images available upon request.
